Equipment

1 Air Fryer

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 300 g firm tofu
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp gluten-free tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp vegan mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 tbsp gluten-free soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Gluten-free panko-style breadcrumbs for coating

Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towel. Place a heavy object on top and press for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, tomato paste, vegan mayonnaise, maple syrup, soy sauce, water, paprika, and black pepper. Stir until well-blended.
  • Slice the tofu into 1/2 inch thick slabs. Submerge each slice into the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. For deeper flavor, let the tofu marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Coat the marinated tofu slices in gluten-free breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Place the breaded tofu slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
  • Air fry for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is crispy and golden-brown.
  • Serve hot as a delightful main course or a protein-packed snack.
